Emotional intelligence is not just about getting along with others or overcoming challenges, it is also a way to enjoy life more every day!
“What a cold crappy day to have to go to work,” Said the Facebook post. Wow, I thought, that’s a sure way to experience an unpleasant Monday. I am facing the same winter day and I love it. I see it as a A fresh start to today, this week, the rest of my life. You can enjoy everyday more with emotional intelligence.
Please understand, I am not judging, and do not see myself as superior. I do see it as another example of the old “glass half full, glass half empty” alternative. The optimist sees the glass as half full, of course, but there’s more. Optimism is dependent on emotional intelligence (EQ). When you have the ability to recognize and accept your emotional state and choose again, you can choose to be the kind of day you want to have.
This is not a long intellectual post about emotional intelligence. It is a invitation to consider your choices. You can choose to develop the skills of emotional self awareness and emotional management and choose the context with which you will live your day. Enjoy.
